THROUGH THE LENS
fashion thesis & film series by Nathaly Delacruz
“THROUGH THE LENS” emulates a literal approach to my integration of film and fashion. Fashion is a visual art that performs and is becoming more interactive as technology further develops. Filmmaking is a visual art for the performing arts and its development is positively correlated to that of technology. One of my favorite sayings is that a true artist is never involved with just one art form. With this project I experimented with blurring the divide between two separate art forms and bringing them together, both of which represent the two particular backgrounds that together, make the artist that I am today.
Watch filters translate as vinyls, altering the image underneath it; a real life special FX applied to fabric and skin. Photography becomes print as we step into a world of wearable cinematography. Bright blues and greens can be chromakeyed, transforming the garments into green screens. Our characters become walking movie projectors, and the woman herself becomes part of the performance.
